Beginning of the Year Meeting/Get Together
We will have a beginning of the year meeting on Sunday 5/31 at 6pm. We will meet to go
over expectations, answer any questions and ensure that our volunteer sign up is ready.
This will be a fun time to get to know the team before the season starts! This will be at the
pool and kids are welcome!
Coaches
Many of last years coaches are returning this year. Official roles and responsibilities to be
announced soon. The coaches have been an amazing part of the Woodlands Swim Team
and we look forward to them guiding our swimmers again this year. They bring a lot of
instruction experience and some wonderful expertise! We will release a special bio with
pictures closer to the start of the season!

swimming all 4 strokes legally and building endurance.

Our practice groups will not be set strictly by age. Coaches will evaluate every swimmer and
place them accordingly during the first week and possibly throughout the season. For the
first week parents, please try to line your child up with the practice their skill level matches.
We can always move a swimmer up if needed to another practice time. Our goal is to
structure practices to appropriately challenge each swimmer to learn, grow and compete to
the best of their abilities. Practices meet Monday-Friday during the swim
Volunteer Information
At this time we are asking that all families be required to volunteer 2 times throughout the
season. This is based on a minimum number of swimmers and does not include invitational
which will have another sign up for those participating. The fee to opt out is $50 per shift.
Volunteer signup will be managed through SignUp Genius. This will be sent out on 5/26.
Please make sure you are signing up! All sign ups must be completed by the first meet or
the opt out fee will be applied to your account.
We are looking for more parents to get involved this year. If you would like to consider taking
on a more involved role this is the year. In order to have the swim team continue we need a
new group of parents to help support the planning and everyday needs.
Stroke Judge Training
Please consider attending one of the online stroke judge clinics. It is required for anyone
looking to volunteer as a stroke judge at meets. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more
about how your swimmer is expected to swim at meets to avoid the dreaded disqualification. More details to come.
Gear
Team suits will be available for purchase at Elsmore Swim Shop (4705 E 96th St). We will
let you know when suits are in stock at the store. You can order online. Or look for any suit
with a black and red design.
BAND
We will use the app BAND to communicate throughout the season. Any changes to meets,
practice, or general updates will come through this app. Please make sure to sign up for
Band and have your settings to set push alerts. It’s a quick season so this is the easiest way
to get up to date information.
