Coaches

This year we have a new wonderful group of coaches. We will share more information about
their roles and how we are going to work this season closer to the start of the season. We
are so lucky to have Kate Donovan, who will be helping as a mentor to the coaches this
year. Brady Sweeney will serve as head coach. We have two assistant coaches Reilly
Sweeney and Elaine Pankiw, and three support coaches Bella Cox, Conner Fletchall, and
Bryce Lowe. We are excited to have these amazing past Woodlands Swim Team swimmers
to guide our team this year. They bring a lot of instruction experience and some wonderful
expertise!

This group will focus on learning to swim independently and free and back strokes.

8:40-9:20 Red Group – Developing swimmers (6-10 year olds) This group will focus on swimming all 4 strokes legally and building endurance.9:20-10:00 Black Group – Experienced Swimmers (10-14 year olds) This group will focus on conditioning and race strategy.

Our practice groups will not be set strictly by age. Coaches will evaluate every swimmer and
place them accordingly during the first week and possibly throughout the season. Our goal
is to structure practices to appropriately challenge each swimmer to learn, grow and
compete to the best of their abilities. Practices meet Monday-Friday during the swim season.

Volunteer Information

At this time we are asking that all families be required to volunteer 2 times throughout the
season. This is based on a minimum number of swimmers and does not include invitational
which will have another sign up for those participating. The fee to opt out is $50 per shift.
Volunteer signup will be managed through SignUp Genius. This will be sent out on May
22nd. Please make sure you are signing up! All sign ups must be completed by the first meet or the opt out fee will be applied to your account.

Stroke Judge Training

Please consider attending one of the online stroke judge clinics. It is required for anyone
looking to volunteer as a stroke judge at meets. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more
about how your swimmer is expected to swim at meets to avoid the dreaded disqualification. More details to come.

Gear

Team suits will be available for purchase at Elsmore Swim Shop (4705 E 96th St). We will
let you know when suits are in stock at the store. You can order online. Or look for any suit
with a black and red design.

T-shirts, sweatshirts and tanks will be available in our spirit wear store. More information to
follow. Holly Wangler will be coordinating spirit wear this year! Thank you Holly.
